Organization Overview:
MEFMI is a regional organization headquartered in Harare, Zimbabwe, dedicated
to strengthening macroeconomic and financial management capacity in Eastern and
Southern Africa. Through targeted programs and strategic partnerships, MEFMI
supports sustainable economic growth and financial sector stability across its
member countries.
Role Summary:
The Director of the Financial Sector Management Programme will provide
strategic leadership and oversight for MEFMI’s financial sector initiatives.
The role involves designing and implementing programs that promote best
practices in financial regulation and innovation, with a focus on emerging
technologies such as blockchain and digital currencies. The Director will
engage with central banks, financial regulators, and other stakeholders to
drive capacity building and policy development across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of financial sector management programs aligned with regional trends and training needs
- Provide expert advisory services on financial sector issues, including digital currencies and blockchain technologies
- Prepare the annual financial sector work program for inclusion in MEFMI’s institutional plan
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with financial regulators and promote stakeholder knowledge exchange
- Oversee the selection and training of candidate fellows, including the development of customized training plans (CTPs)
- Mobilize resources to support program delivery and ensure long-term sustainability
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within financial institutions or regulatory bodies
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering capacity-building programs
Added Advantages:
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Experience with MEFMI or similar regional organizations
- Proficiency in Portuguese

- Effective leadership and team management in a regional context
Compensation and Location:
- Competitive remuneration package in US dollars, benchmarked against similar regional organizations
